Wantagh, NY (April 21, 2019) – Late last night, around 11:57 p.m., police responded to the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on the Sunrise Highway.
Police say that a pedestrian lost their life in the accident. Nassau County Police identified the pedestrian as 60-year-old Holario Perez, of Bellmore. At the time, Perez was attempting to cross the highway when he was struck by a westbound Chevy near Wantagh Avenue.
Police confirmed that Perez suffered severe trauma at the scene of the accident and, after being transported to a hospital, he was pronounced dead.
The driver who struck him was identified as a 21-year-old man who stayed at the scene of the accident to cooperate with police. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
