Cayuta, NY (April 18, 2019) – Police responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday, April 18th, that sadly resulted in one fatality in the town of Cayuta. According to authorities, the crash was reported to have happened along State Route 13, approximately a mile and a half north of the intersection of Route 13 and Route 224 in Alpine Junction at an unspecified time.

According to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Annette M. Osborn, of Campbell, was traveling south along Route 13 when she veered over the center line and hit a vehicle being operated by 25-year-old Corrine B. Taylor, of Elmira. Osborn then continued on to crash head-on into a truck operated by 34-year-old Douglas M. Collins, of Cayuta. Emergency medical crews were immediately summoned to the crash site along with the police.

Tragically, Osborn was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Taylor was rushed to Cayuta Medical Center to be treated for her injuries which are considered minor at this time. Collins, as well as a passenger in his vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Brian L. McClean, of Cayuta, were both taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Syre. Both Collins and McClean were reported to have suffered multiple fractured bones.

Authorities are being assisted in their investigation by the New York State Police accident reconstruction team.
