Ulysses, NY (April 5, 2019) – New York State Police have now released the identities of those who were involved in a serious accident along State Route 89 on Thursday afternoon, April 4. The collision took place when the driver of a minivan veered into oncoming traffic, subsequently causing a head-on collision that claimed the life of one person and caused the severe injuries of three others at 3:18 p.m.

According to investigators, 53-year-old Kathleen M. Cole, of Seneca Falls, was the operator of the Chrysler Pacifica minivan that crossed the center line along Taughannock Boulevard for unknown reasons. Cole subsequently crashed into a 2015 Toyota Camry, being driven by 57-year-old Jennifer L. Myers, of Trumansburg, before continuing on to collide with a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro driven by 30-year-old Jonathan P. Hockenjos, of Sayreville, NJ, head-on.

According to police, Cole’s passenger, identified as 86-year-old Marguerite J. Cole, of Seneca Falls, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Kathleen Cole was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center to undergo immediate surgery. Both Hockenjos and his passenger, 19-year-old Sabina R. Marra, of New York City, were also airlifted to Upstate Medical Center to undergo surgery.

No tickets have been issued at this time, as the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
