Saugerties, NY (March 29, 2019) – A two-car crash was reported to have occurred on Friday morning, March 29th, that prompted responses from police and emergency medical crews. Authorities stated that the collision happened at the intersection of Route 32 and Glasco Turnpike at approximately 6:30 a.m.
According to police, 21-year-old Jenna M. Smith had been traveling on Glasco Turnpike in a 2016 Toyota Corolla when she failed to yield to oncoming traffic at the aforementioned intersection. Smith subsequently struck a 2005 Toyota Prius that was being operated by 26-year-old Ayla Rector, of Kingston and Smith’s vehicle ended up overturning onto its side.
Smith had been traveling with two passengers, one of whom was a 1-year-old child, at the time of the crash. Medical crews with Diaz Ambulance responded to the crash site, where they attended to Smith and an unidentified adult passenger. Both parties were transported to Health Alliance Hospital’s Broadway Campus in Kingston for treatment. Fortunately, the 1-year-old child was unharmed in the crash.
Rector as reported to have sustained at least minor injuries and was transported to a health care provider via a private vehicle, according to police. Smith was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
