Canandaigua, NY (March 27, 2019) – According to law enforcement, a man was arrested on Tuesday, March 26th, for first-degree rape following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse. 22-year-old Benjamin D. Korpiel was arrested and charged with the class-B felony at an unspecified time, according to state police.
Police stated that Korpiel was arrested for engaging in sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion. The victim, who has only been identified as a female, was reported to have been sexually abused by the suspect at a private residence in the town of Lafayette. Further details concerning the date of the incident and the events that led to the suspect’s arrest have not been made available at this time.
Korpiel was arrested and immediately transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center to be arraigned. The suspect will be back in court at a later date but no further information has been reported.
