Hampton Bays, NY (March 22, 2019) – Police have now released the identities of the individuals involved in a fatal head-on crash that occurred on Tuesday morning, March 19th, in Hampton Bays. The accident was reported to have happened around 7:00 a.m. between a Ford pickup truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer on Flanders Road.
According to police, the driver of the Trailblazer, now identified as 20-year-old Marcelo Viscalla-Diaz, of Flanders, collided head-on with a Ford being operated by 18-year-old Kevin Montano, of East Hampton. The two vehicles were traveling in opposite lanes along Flanders road when they collided for reasons that are still being investigated. Paramedics and police were immediately sent to the scene.
Viscalla-Diaz was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, as Montano, who was found unresponsive, was immediately taken to a local hospital in an unspecified condition. The collision occurred between Bellows Pond Road and Red Creek Road.
