Hampton Bays, NY (March 19, 2019) – Early Tuesday morning, March 19th, emergency medical crews were dispatched along with police to the scene of a head-on collision that took place on Flanders Road. According to Southampton Town Police, the crash, which tragically resulted in the death of one individual, happened around 7:00 a.m.
Two vehicles, described as a Ford pickup truck and a Chevrolet Trailblazer, were involved in the accident between Bellows Pond Road and Red Creek Road. The two were reported to have met head-on in a serious crash, although exactly how and why the accident occurred is unclear at this time.
Paramedics were called to the crash site, where one of the drivers involved was sadly pronounced dead. The other driver was immediately taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that have been classified as serious. The road was closed to traffic in the area as crews worked to clear debris and while authorities began their investigation.
