Lockport, NY (March 15, 2019) – A local man from Lockport had to rescued on Friday, March 15, after becoming trapped underneath a piece of cleaning equipment at his place of employment. According to authorities, fire officials and Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a workplace accident at Custom Crews Incorporated located on Old Niagara Road in Lockport.
Responders arrived at the scene where they found a 57-year-old man who had become trapped underneath a partially disassembled cleaning unit, according to authorities. Deputies at the scene stated that the victim and one other person had been working on the equipment when a component shifted, unexpectedly. The piece fell and subsequently pinned the victim to the concrete floor.
Emergency crews had to extricate the man from the equipment, at which point, paramedics transported him to Erie County Medical Center to be treated for a leg injury. The seriousness of the injury has not been stated but authorities are actively investigating the cause of the incident.
