Pembroke, NY (March 14, 2019) – While earlier reports stated that serious injuries were likely to have occurred following a head-on collision between a car and a tractor-trailer, police have now reported that the driver of the vehicle involved was tragically killed. The accident was stated to have taken place around 3:00 p.m. on Main Street/Route 5 on Thursday, March 14th.
Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies reported that the car was traveling west along Main Street when it veered into the oncoming lane for unknown reasons. The car subsequently collided head-on with a tractor-trailer, killing the driver instantly. Emergency medical crews, firefighters, and police were dispatched to the scene of the crash, where the driver of the truck was taken to UMMC in Batavia. His injuries were ultimately classified as minor.
The tractor-trailer crashed into a ditch following the collision, and the DEC spill team worked to clean up a fuel spill that had resulted. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is currently in charge of the investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
