Pelham Bay, Bronx, NY (March 12, 2019) – Early on Tuesday morning, March 12th, police responded to the scene of an incident, in which a man was tragically struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The fatal incident was reported to have taken place around 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of Country Club Road and Mac Donough Place.
According to authorities, the victim, identified only as a 52-year-old man, was involved in a minor car crash on McLean Avenue when he fled the scene. However, police believe that the man soon realized that he had three flat tires while traveling south along the Bronx River Parkway and eventually pulled onto the Bruckner Boulevard Service Road off I-95.
The victim abandoned his vehicle and began walking when he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Police believe the vehicle that hit the victim was a dump truck with a blue container. Police are now searching for the dump truck as part of their investigation into the incident.
Unfortunately, New York pedestrian accidents can be seriously injurious or fatal, as there is no protection between the vehicle and the pedestrian at the time of impact, and especially when the vehicle involved is as large and powerful as a dump truck. Before moving on, we would like to extend our deepest condolences and most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of the victim.
We realize that it can be terribly difficult for the bereaved family to focus on anything other than their mental and emotional recovery at this time. However, it is important to know that you may likely have substantial rights regarding financial compensation for your loss.
At Hach & Rose, we are here for you 24/7 as we have made it our mission to hold negligent drivers liable for the devastating pain and suffering that they inflict. If you have lost a loved one in a New York pedestrian accident, please don’t hesitate to call 212-779-0057 today.
