Rochester, NY (March 9, 2019) – On Saturday afternoon, authorities and firefighters responded to a fire that broke out in the 1100 block of Lyell Avenue and sent two people to the hospital.

A man and a child were hospitalized following the serious fire event. Multiple passersby in the area noticed smoke and flames coming out of the home and called in the incident.

There was a male victim who sustained burns to his face and smoke inhalation. The child was taken as a precaution for smoke inhalation.

Police also reported that one dog was rescued in the fire and two others did not make it. The man told firefighters he only knew about the fire because he hard his dogs barking.

Crews believe that the fire started at the back of the home. At this time, they continue to investigate.
