Hicksville, NY (March 9, 2019) – This morning, authorities say that two people received serious injuries due to a house fire that took place on Bunker Lane around 7:30 a.m. Firefighters had the fire under control by 9:10 a.m.
Police say that the 55-year-old man and his 20-year-old daughter were injured and taken to the Nassau University Medical Center for treatment. He suffered from burns and she had smoke inhalation injuries. Both have since been released.
The fire marshal said that the fire does not appear to have started for suspicious reasons. At this time, authorities continue to investigate what could have caused it.
The fire is believed to have started in the home kitchen of those who lived there, which was undergoing renovations at the time.
More than 100 firefighters from multiple departments responded to the enormous fire.
