Brentwood, NY (March 9, 2019) – An officer with Suffolk County was struck and injured in a hit-and-run crash that took place at 147 Peterson Street last night, March 8th.
The accident led to a police pursuit, according to responding authorities. The police officer’s name was not released but he was identified as a 16-year veteran of the department. He was taken to the hospital with injuries but is projected to be okay.
The officer was responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle when the accident took place. When the officer was out and walking around, he was suddenly struck by a dark sedan with license plates for another state. Police are investigating whether or not the driver who struck the officer was in the aforementioned suspicious vehicle.
Police do not have any other information on the accident and are still seeking witnesses. The investigation into the matter continues at this time.
