Staten Island, NY (March 8, 2019) – Two vehicles were stated to have collided on the Staten Island Expressway on Friday morning, March 8th, according to authorities. The injurious collision was reported to have occurred at around 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the expressway between two vehicles.
According to the FDNY, two vehicles were involved in the collision, at least one of which was reported to have been a sedan-style vehicle. The cause of the collision is unknown but police and emergency medical crews were called to the crash site a short time later.
According to paramedics, at least one person was immediately transported to Staten Island University Hospital to be treated for injuries that have been considered non-life-threatening at this time. As of 7:45 a.m., traffic had been backed up from the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge to exit 8. Authorities are likely to be involved in a thorough investigation into this incident.
