Marine Park, Brooklyn, NY (March 6, 2019) – A man was backing into his driveway in an SUV when he tragically struck and killed an 85-year-old woman on Wednesday afternoon, March 6th. The fatal incident took place on Avenue S at a time that was not specified by authorities.
According to police, the woman had been walking along the aforementioned road when the driver of the SUV, identified only as a 49-year-old man, struck her while in reverse. Emergency medical professionals arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and confirmed that the victim had suffered serious head trauma from the impact. She was immediately taken to Kings County Hospital but was unable to be revived.
Police stated that the driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. No arrests have been made at this time and the woman’s identity has not been released.
