Caroline, NY (March 5, 2019) – A 19-year-old girl was tragically killed in a two-vehicle collision around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4, along the 700 Block of Valley Road, according to police.
The victim, who has been identified as Kelly Anne Perkins, had been traveling along the aforementioned road from her family home in Berkshire to Ithaca College, where she was a student. Perkins was stated to have lost control of her vehicle for reasons that were likely due to snowy roads and subsequently collided with a pickup truck in the oncoming lane.
Brooktondale and Slaterville Fire Departments responded to the scene, along with Bangs Ambulance, to assist the parties involved. Perkins was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident and no information was reported concerning any other injuries. Both vehicles were stated to have suffered serious damage in the crash and no charges have been filed at this time. The investigation into this terrible incident is ongoing.
