Orleans, NY (March 4, 2019) – A fatal accident took place around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd, between a woman and a utility task vehicle. According to police, the incident occurred at a home located at 18910 County Route 3 and prompted responses from both police and emergency medical crews.
According to authorities, police arrived at the scene where they found a woman who had ended up pinned underneath a Kubota UTV between the residence and a garage. Troopers attempted to assist the victim as they pushed the UTV off of her, although she was unresponsive and not breathing at the time. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene a short time later and tragically pronounced the woman deceased.
The victim was later identified as Sylvia R. Carter, 73, of Clayton, who had been unloading a pressure washer from the UTV when it rolled back and subsequently pinned her underneath it. The official cause of death is likely to be reported soon, as she was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for postmortem examination.
No further details have been provided at this time.
Horrifically, there are many cases for wrongful death in New York wherein the victim could have survived if not for the actions of another party or other entity, such as a vehicle manufacturer. Before moving on, we would first like to extend our sincerest condolences to the loved ones of Sylvia R. Carter during this tragic time.
