Berne, NY (March 3, 2019) – Police responded to a two-car accident that took place at the intersection of State Route 443 and County Route 1 around 4:25 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Four people were hospitalized due to the accident.
The two vehicles that collided with one another each had two occupants who were entrapped in the vehicles. The first vehicle had been traveling south on County Route 1, failed to see a stop sign at the intersection while traveling into the intersection at a high rate of speed, and struck the second vehicle on State Route 443.
All four occupants were sent to various hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to recover. The operator of the first vehicle received a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident at this time.
