Westville, NY (March 2, 2019) – Police responded to a two-car accident that took place due to one person engaging in unsafe passing. Two people were sent to the hospital with injuries.
At the time, police say that 18-year-old Scott Brown, of Malone, had been driving his GMC Sierra on State Route 37 when he suddenly passed an uninvolved vehicle in a no-passing zone. At the same time, 63-year-old James Rabideau was traveling north in his pickup truck and was attempting to turn into a mobile home park. That’s when Brown tried to pass him.
Brown was unable to avoid striking Rabideau as he made his turn. This caused an accident to occur.
Rabideau and his passenger, 27-year-old Stacy Coleman, were taken to the hospital for treatment of chest pain. Brown was uninjured and received a ticket for imprudent speed and failing to maintain his lane.
