Staten Island, NY (February 28, 2019) – Three individuals sustained at least minor injuries following a car crash that took place on the Staten Island Expressway on Wednesday night, February 27. The accident was reported to have happened at 6:48 p.m. between at least two vehicles for reasons that have not been confirmed.
According to the FDNY, the collision occurred in the westbound lanes of the expressway and prompted responses from police, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. Paramedics who arrived at the scene transported three people to Staten Island University Hospital’s north campus for treatment of various injuries.
Both of the vehicles involved in the accident were reported to have suffered serious damage, which left glass and debris spread across the expressway. Severe delays followed as crews worked to clear the scene. At this time, the cause of the collision is currently under investigation, as police have not released any further details.
