Leroy, NY (February 24, 2019) – Early this morning around 3:30 a.m., police responded to a fatal car accident that took the life of one man and injured two others. The man who lost his life was allegedly from Canada, according to police.
At the time, a 21-year-old man from St. Catherines was headed north on Route 19 when he was suddenly involved in an accident that caused him to veer from the roadway and strike a home on Clay Street.
Fire crews had to work for about 45 minutes so that they could extricate the driver and passengers out of the vehicle. A front seat passenger, identified as 22-year-old Jamel Love, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A 22-year-old passenger from the back of the vehicle suffered severe injuries and the driver was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Both are still receiving treatment in the hospital.
Police are still trying to determine what circumstances led up to the accident.
