Shirley, NY (February 21, 2019) – According to police, a man was tragically killed and two others injured following a two-car crash that occurred Wednesday night, February 20, on the Montauk Highway in the vicinity of Smith Road, at an unspecified time.
Authorities at the scene stated that 26-year-old Angel Espiet, of Bellport, had been traveling along the highway when his vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic and subsequently crashed into another car. Emergency medical crews accompanied police at the crash site, where they sadly pronounced Espiet dead and transported two occupants from the other vehicle to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle, who has been identified as 24-year-old Dylan O’Brien, as well as his passenger, 23-year-old Marissa Joynt, of Shirley, suffered injuries that have been classified as non-life-threatening. Both vehicles involved in the incident have been impounded for safety checks as the collision is under investigation at this time.
