Albany, NY (February 21, 2019) – While they have not reported an exact time, Albany Police stated that a pedestrian was struck and injured by a motor vehicle on Thursday, February 21, at the intersection of Broadway and Clinton Avenue, for reasons that have not been determined at this time.
According to the spokesman for the department, Steve Smith, a pedestrian had been walking in the area when a vehicle collided with them. Whether or not the pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk has not been verified. Likewise, there has also been no mention of whether the driver involved remained at the scene to cooperate with authorities, nor if they fled the area.
Emergency medical crews arrived at the scene in order to assist the injured party and immediately transported the victim to Albany Medical Center. The cause of this incident is currently under investigation, as this is a developing story.
Unfortunately, New York pedestrian accidents can be seriously injurious, or even fatal, as there is no protection between the vehicle and the pedestrian at the time of impact.
