Potsdam, NY (February 20, 2019) – One person was reported to have suffered injuries in a house fire Wednesday afternoon, February 20. The fire, which broke out at a home located at 43 Pine Street, was stated to have begun at around 1:30 p.m. and ultimately led to an explosion on the second floor of the house.
Following the explosion, a witness claimed to have seen smoke billowing from blown-out windows on the second floor. Firefighters arrived at the scene along with emergency medical crews in order to extinguish the blaze and render aid to any victims.
One victim was immediately transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital to be treated for burns to the hands and face. The exact condition of that victim has not been stated at this time. Authorities are currently engaged in a thoroughly detailed investigation into the cause of the fire.
