Clarence, NY (February 17, 2019) – The New York State Police responded to a pedestrian accident yesterday to find that one person received serious injuries.
The male victim was identified as a 51-year-old, who was located on the side of Harris Hill Road. He was transported to the hospital and has been listed in serious condition.
51-year-old Michael Eddo, the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian, was questioned by police. He failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the police barracks, where they found that his blood-alcohol content was at 0.19%.
Eddo has since been charged with DWI and vehicular assault. Police continue to investigate the accident at this time.
First and foremost, our thoughts are with the victim of this accident and we hope he will make a full recovery. Every year, a large variety of negligent acts take place on our roads due to drunk drivers. In fact, drunk driving is one of the leading causes of serious accidents across New York. In 2011, it was reported that 61 people were killed across the state in these accidents, while 4,298 were injured. One thing that must be remembered in these types of accidents is the fact that DUI is a crime, which means that it might be easier to prove that a party was acting negligently at the time of your crash. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to you if you have been injured in one of these accidents. A New York car accident attorney can help in your time of need.
