Long Island, NY (February 15, 2019) – Early Friday morning, February 15, police responded to a hit-and-run accident that tragically claimed the life of a pedestrian in Ronkonkoma. 46-year-old Christopher Grassia was struck and killed by a motor vehicle that fled the scene at Richmond Boulevard, near Rosevale Avenue, according to authorities.
Police stated that Grassia had been walking along the roadway when he was believed to have been hit by a blue Dodge Ram pickup. The impact of the accident sent Grassia into a bush, where he was discovered by a passerby who reported the incident at approximately 12:20 a.m. Grassia was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, authorities investigating the incident believe that the crash occurred sometime after 7:20 p.m. the night before. Police stated that Grassia was last seen visiting a BP gas station on Rosevale Avenue. The Dodge pickup that is believed to have been involved is currently being sought, and police believe the vehicle has front-end damage.
