Manhattan, NY (February 12, 2019) – New details have emerged concerning the pedestrian vs. bus accident that occurred on Monday morning, February 11, in Manhattan. According to police, the victim has been identified as a 70-year-old woman who was, in fact, struck by a bus at the intersection of East 36th Street and Second Avenue at around 9:30 a.m.
According to the FDNY, the elderly woman had been walking along Second Avenue in the northbound direction when she was struck by a Q44 MTA bus that had been attempting a left turn. Police stated that the victims’ foot had ended up caught under one of the wheels of the bus, which subsequently dragged her approximately 20-30 feet.
Emergency responders who were called to the scene transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she has been listed in critical condition. The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
The bus driver was reported to have remained at the scene and a thorough investigation into the events that led to the incident is ongoing.
