Colonie, NY (February 11, 2019) – On Sunday afternoon, February 10, a two-car crash involving a Colonie police officer resulted in two injuries. The collision was reported to have taken place on Sand Creek Road at an unspecified time, according to authorities.
Police stated that the patrol car involved had been stopped at a red light on Sand Creek Road when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. The officer operating the patrol car, identified as Officer Eric Montijo, was transported to a nearby hospital. Montijo was treated for neck pain and released.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, who has only been identified as a 92-year-old woman from Colonie, was immediately taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for leg pain. She has been listed in stable condition at this time.
The accident caused severe damage to both vehicles, which ultimately resulted in the restriction of Sand Creek Road down to one lane. Police have not provided any further details concerning this incident.
