Baychester, Bronx, NY (February 11, 2019) – A chain-reaction crash occurred on Sunday night, February 10, which resulted in eight injured parties, including one person in critical condition. Police have now reported that they believe that the two drivers responsible for causing the accident were intoxicated behind the wheel.
According to authorities, two people were driving at a high rate of speed along the New England Thruway. Both of those drivers were operating BMW’s, one gray and the other white, when the white BMW struck a black Kia in the vicinity of Baychester Avenue. The Kia that was struck was then forced to crash into the rear end of a Honda, which then subsequently crashed into the gray BMW.
Emergency medical crews at the scene were able to confirm that the 68-year-old driver of the Kia has been hospitalized in critical condition. Another seven people suffered injuries in the incident, however, there has been no word concerning their conditions or identities.
The driver of the white BMW has been identified as 23-year-old Jahmeik White, of the Bronx, and the driver of the gray BMW has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher Coates, of Peekskill. Both drivers have been charged with reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.
