Coram, NY (February 10, 2019) – Police reported that one person was killed and another was hospitalized following a serious and fatal accident on Middle Country Road. The accident took place this morning, February 10, around 4 a.m.
A 2005 Nissan Murano was going east on the roadway when it went into another lane and was involved in an accident. The vehicle then ran into a metal pole.
The driver of the Murano ran away through a parking lot after the accident, leaving two passengers in the vehicle. He was since identified as Cruz Emelio Tum-Tipaz of Potunk Lane. One of the passengers was identified as 28-year-old Juan Morales Cuterez, who lost his life at the scene of this tragic accident. The other passenger was identified as 53-year-old Eledao Bolaj-Garcia who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Tum-Tipaz was charged with leaving the scene of the accident that resulted in death. At this time, investigators are taking a closer look at the crash.
