Perinton, NY (February 8, 2019) – The woman who was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday morning, February 7, has been identified by police as 48-year-old Tammy Knowlton, of Palmyra. Authorities reported the fatal accident at around 7:30 a.m. after two vehicles collided at an intersection in the town of Perinton.
Police stated that the crash occurred as Knowlton had been driving west along Furman Road and approached the intersection with Carter Street. An SUV heading north on Carter Street, operated by a person identified only as a man in his 40’s, then crashed into Knowlton’s vehicle.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene sadly pronounced Knowlton dead shortly after their arrival. One passenger who had been traveling with Knowlton, identified as 21-year-old Kali Knowlton-Leech, also of Palmyra, was immediately rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital where she has been listed in satisfactory condition.
The driver of the SUV was uninjured in the accident which police believe may have been at least partly due to weather conditions. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Our deepest condolences are wholeheartedly extended to the loved ones of Tammy Knowlton, first and foremost. We also extend our sincere sympathies to Kali Knowlton-Leech as we maintain hope for her full recovery.
