Amherst, NY (February 5, 2019) – Sunday morning, February 3, multiple agencies responded to a structure fire that broke out at the Boulevard Towers Apartment Complex in the town of Amherst. The fire was reported to have started at around 10:30 a.m. at the complex located at 120 Meyer Road.
Officers from the Amherst Police Department arrived at the scene along with Brighton, Getzville, Eggertsville, Ellicott Creek, and North Bailey Fire Department who were finally able to extinguish the fire. All residents were immediately evacuated from the complex, one of which was reported to have suffered at least minor injuries.
The injured victim was rushed to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and is expected to be okay. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of one of the units, although the official cause is currently under investigation at this time.
We would first like to offer our sincerest sympathies and most heartfelt concerns to the injured victim of this fire. Of course, we extend our deepest gratitude to the many New York firefighters who risk their lives each and every day for the citizens of our community.
