South Jamaica, NY (February 3, 2019) – In Queens, police are still conducting an investigation into a fatal collision that took place on the Belt Parkway early this morning around 4:40 a.m.
The accident took place initially when a vehicle struck a barrier, causing another vehicle to then strike it from behind. The passenger in the first vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Christon Harry, who was ejected from his vehicle and thrown onto the highway. He was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The driver was found to have been traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident and was later suspected of driving while under the influence. The second driver who struck the first vehicle was identified as a 22-year-old woman. Police did not specify if she was injured in the crash.
At this time, the investigation into the accident continues.
