Mastic, NY (February 3, 2019) – Last night around 11:50 p.m., a woman from Bay Shore was killed while she was crossing the street at Southaven Avenue and was struck by a vehicle.
An Acura had been heading south when the driver struck her and knocked her to the ground. Suffolk Police investigated and found that an older-model Impala had also been traveling south and hit her as well. The second driver only stopped briefly and then got back in their vehicle and fled the scene.
The first driver who struck her stayed at the scene to cooperate with police. The woman, who has since been identified by police as 28-year-old Masita Sayon, was taken to the hospital but tragically pronounced dead while there.
Police are still searching for the other driver and continue to investigate the crash at this time.
