Watertown, NY (February 1, 2019) – At around 8:40 a.m. Friday morning, February 1, police reported that a sheriff’s deputy suffered injuries after a two-vehicle crash along Arsenal Street in Watertown. The accident was stated to have occurred at the intersection with Bellew Avenue.
Authorities reported that the accident happened when Deputy Krystal Rice had been driving north along Bellew Avenue and approached a green light at the intersection with Arsenal Street. Rice was going through the intersection when her vehicle was T-boned by the driver of a Volkswagen Tiguan, identified as Sharon Lang, of Adams Center.
Paramedics were called to the scene where they promptly transported Deputy Rice to Samaritan Medical Center via Guilfoyle Ambulance. The victim was treated for her injuries and released. Watertown Police investigated the incident and issued a ticket to Lang for failure to obey a traffic signal.
No further information has been released at this time.
