Olean, NY (January 31, 2019) – Two pedestrians suffered at least minor injuries after being struck by a pickup truck outside of Olean General Hospital on Monday afternoon, January 28. The injurious collision was reported to have taken place at around 2:08 p.m. in the area of Main Street and Center Street in the town of Olean.
According to the Olean Police Department, two women had been attempting to cross the roadway in a crosswalk from Olean General Hospital to a Kwik Fill gas station when they were hit by a Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the Silverado had been making a left turn from Center Street onto Main Street at the time of the incident.
The two injured pedestrians, identified as 50-year-old Loretta L. Ivanich and 59-year-old Debra A. Anderson, were immediately taken to OGH with lower body injuries. One of the victims was taken via ambulance as the other was transported on a cot by hospital personnel. The driver of the Silverado, identified as Timothy M. Stromecki, 34, of Olean, has been ticketed for failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
