Manhattan, NY (January 26, 2019) – On Thursday around 5 a.m., a police vehicle and Uber SUV collided with one another in a serious accident that remains under investigation.
The accident took place at East 52nd and 5th Avenue. The Uber driver said that the police vehicle had been traveling eastbound on 52nd when he ran the red light. The driver said that the officer’s lights and sirens were not on at the time.
The Uber SUV had been traveling southbound at the time of the accident. Officers were injured in the accident and taken to local hospitals. However, nobody sustained life-threatening injuries. The Uber driver refused medical treatment.
At this time, police continue their investigation into the accident to determine liability.
