Maryland, NY (January 25, 2019) – A police officer was reported to have been hospitalized after a trooper vehicle was rear-ended on the side of Interstate 88 in the town of Maryland. The accident happened on Thursday, January 24, while the trooper was pulled over and working to assist a disabled vehicle along the interstate.
According to state police, an unidentified driver failed to move over for an emergency vehicle and subsequently crashed into the back of a troop car. While details have not been released, the officer involved was stated to be on the side of the road helping a disabled vehicle when the crash occurred.
The incident prompted responses from police and emergency medical crews where the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. There has been no information released regarding the current condition of the injured Trooper at this time.
