Edenwald, Bronx, NY (January 24, 2019) – A manhunt caused a precautionary school lockdown after a police chase from Westchester County into the Bronx ended with an injurious collision and gunshots on Thursday, January 24. The incident began in Mount Vernon at an unspecified time after a vehicle fled a traffic stop and sped into the Edenwald section of the Bronx.
According to police, a male and a female fled the scene on foot after crashing into a vehicle at the intersection of Pittman Avenue and Monticello Avenue. At least one officer is believed to have opened fire but neither suspect appeared to have been struck as they may have eluded authorities for the time being.
During the chase, three Mount Vernon officers were reported to have sustained injuries, one of which was dragged by the suspect’s vehicle. The current condition of the victims is not known at this time.
