Staten Island, NY (January 22, 2019) – A motor vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer has been reported to have resulted in injuries and caused delays on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge in Staten Island, according to authorities. The crash was stated to have taken place on the upper level of the bridge Monday night, January 21, at around 7:00 p.m.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene along with police in order to evaluate the crash and render aid to any victims. One motorist was reported to have suffered injuries that have been classified as non-life-threatening at this time.
All lanes in the area were initially closed but by 7:50 p.m., the right lane of the Brooklyn-bound upper-level was reopened. Nevertheless, the area was closed back down due to further needs to clear debris and begin the investigation into the crash.
