Hudson Falls, NY (January 20, 2019) – Police say that a 75-year-old man was hurt on Friday night due to a serious pedestrian accident caused by a drunk driver.
At the time, police say that the elderly man was crossing Main Street near Juckett Park. The man was immediately taken to the hospital with a variety of bumps and bruises, but police do not believe that his injuries were life-threatening.
The woman who struck him was identified as 41-year-old Dana Powers of Hudson Falls, who was discovered to be driving under the influence of drugs. There was a 1-year-old child in her vehicle at the time as well.
Police say that the man started crossing the street. He suddenly saw the vehicle headed toward him and noticed that it wasn’t slowing down so he quickly tried to dart back to safety.
Powers noticed him at the last minute and swerved, but she still hit him. When paramedics arrived at the scene, they confirmed that the man did not lose consciousness and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Powers received a variety of charges related to driving while under the influence, and the accident is still being investigated at this time.
