Rochester, NY (January 18, 2018) – A serious crash involving a tractor-trailer tragically killed two people Friday morning, January 18, along Route 104 and Hudson Avenue in Rochester. Police reported that the double fatal accident happened at around 9:00 a.m., causing a closure of the roads in the area.
According to authorities, a man who had been driving a tractor-trailer for Leonard’s Express spun out of control while traveling east down Route 104. The driver was stated to have veered off the expressway and down an embankment before hitting a light pole and crashing into a vehicle. The truck continued to strike a worker who had been performing duties underground in a sewer grate.
The worker was tragically killed instantly as police, emergency medical crews, and firefighters were brought to the scene. Fire officials used equipment to cut the truck driver free from the truck as he was pinned inside the wreck. That individual was also sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
State police are currently in charge of the investigation into this accident.
