Queens, NY (January 18, 2019) – Friday morning, January 18, one person was reported to have been struck by a train, prompting responses from local law enforcement, as well as emergency medical crews. The collision happened at around 8:00 a.m. after an individual wound up in the path of the train for reasons that are currently unknown.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the person was hit by a train at or near the Jackson Heights – Roosevelt Avenue station. Emergency medical crews accompanied police at the scene of the incident in order to evaluate the accident and render aid to the victim.
While circumstances remain unclear at this time, paramedics were able to say that they attended to one individual. The condition of the victim has not been released at this time. Delays ensued following the collision, however, no further details have been provided. The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time.
