Wantagh, NY (January 9, 2019) – A house fire broke out on Dell Lane at around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, January 8, that injured three people including a volunteer firefighter. A family of four was still inside the home when the fire started, prompting responses from approximately 100 firefighters, as well as paramedics.
According to authorities, firefighters worked to extinguish the flames and keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. One firefighter was reported to have tripped over equipment on the front lawn of the home and subsequently injured his knee. Paramedics attended to two family members who suffered injuries due to the fire.
Officials who were at the scene stated that the two injured parties were immediately transported to a local hospital to be treated for their wounds. Fire Marshals along with arson investigators are currently in charge of the investigation into the events that led to this incident.
