Cairo, NY (January 4, 2019) – A woman was tragically struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Thursday evening, January 4, in Cairo. The deadly collision took place at around 6:00 p.m. when the victim, now identified as 67-year-old Darla Vincent, was struck by a car operated by an unidentified 35-year-old man.
According to police, deputies responded to the area of Main Street, in the vicinity of Railroad Avenue, to evaluate the incident. The driver of the vehicle involved was reported to have been traveling eastbound along Main Street when Vincent appeared to have stepped in front of his vehicle for unknown reasons.
Emergency medical crews were dispatched to the accident site, however, it was not stated as to whether or not Vincent had been transported to a hospital or pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
No further information has been released at this time.
