Manhattan, NY (January 3, 2019) – On Thursday morning, January 3, a person working as a visual merchandising associate at Bloomingdale’s flagship Manhattan store was injured by a collapsing display wall, according to authorities. The injurious mishap took place at around 10:30 a.m. at the store located at East 59th Street and Third Avenue.
Responders with the FDNY received a call concerning the collapsed wall at the store and immediately responded to the incident at around 10:10 a.m. After arriving at the scene, responders located one injured victim. The patient was promptly transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that have been classified as non-life-threatening at this time.
Representatives for Bloomingdale’s acknowledged the incident and stated that the victim is alert and being treated for their injuries. No further information has been made available concerning the events that led to the collapse or the injured victim.
