Hannibal, NY (December 27, 2018) – A serious and deadly accident involving a large commercial tractor-trailer was reported on Thursday afternoon, December 27, in the town of Hannibal. The fatal three-vehicle collision was stated to have occurred at around 2:34 p.m. on State Route 104, according to police.
An investigation into the incident showed that the driver of a 2019 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, identified as Billy B. Stevens, 41, had been traveling southbound along State Route 104 just before the crash. 55-year-old Lyle E. Wilcox, of Fulton, was reported to have been heading northbound along the same road when he veered into the other lane and struck the tractor-trailer head-on. Wilcox then continued northbound after the initial crash and ultimately struck a 2010 Ford propane delivery truck.
Police along with paramedics were immediately dispatched to the crash site where they transported Wilcox to Oswego Hospital. He was tragically pronounced dead a short time later. Stevens was also taken to Oswego Hospital with injuries that have been considered minor at this time. The driver of the propane truck, 24-year-old Bradley R.
