Middle Island, NY (December 26, 2018) – Police were called to the scene of a deadly pedestrian accident that took place on Rocky Point Road in Middle Island on Monday night, December 24. Authorities were called to the scene where a woman was struck and killed on the aforementioned roadway at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Authorities stated that the immense impact of the collision caused the woman to strike a nearby vehicle that had been stopped at the time. Dispatchers sent police along with emergency medical crews to the scene in order to assess the situation and render aid to the victim. Unfortunately, the severely wounded pedestrian, who has only been identified as a 46-year-old woman, passed away from her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police issued a summons to Morning Yancey, of Port Jefferson Station, for driving without a license, however, no charges have been stated at this time. The events that led to this accident are likely under investigation.
