Buffalo, NY: 8yr Boy Dies from Injuries Following Fire

Buffalo, NY (December 24, 2018) – The early morning fire that took place on Friday, December 21, and claimed the lives of 4-year-old Cianna Jones and her aunt, 26-year-old Brianna Ross, also left an 8-year-old boy with severe burns over 80% of his body. Tragically, the 8-year-old boy, now identified as G’Shawn McGhee, passed away due to his injuries.
The fatal fire was reported to have broken out at around 1:00 a.m. at a home on Shirley Avenue. Investigators have now ruled the blaze accidental, stating that it is believed to have started in the kitchen on the first floor of the home. Firefighters and emergency medical crews responded to the incident where they also transported two other adults to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The two injured adults mostly suffered from smoke inhalation. Smoke detectors were confirmed to have been operational at the time of the fire.
