The Bronx, NY (December 17, 2018) – A man was tragically killed after being struck by an SUV in a Bronx parking lot, leaving his loved ones devastated. The unfortunate accident was reported to have taken place at around 8:40 p.m. on Sunday night, December 16, in the parking lot of the Evergreen Apartments on Evergreen Avenue where the
55-year-old Yaw Acheampong was in the parking lot of the Soundview apartment building when a Mercedes Benz SUV was stated to have struck and dragged him. According to a neighbor, the driver attempted to make a turn when the back wheel would not move. At that point, the driver exited the vehicle and found the victim underneath.
Emergency medical responders were on the scene a short time later where they transported Acheampong to Jacobi Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the SUV, who has only been identified as a 59-year-old man, remained at the scene and has not been charged.
